Old School RuneScape: Fan-Favorite Events Return and Exciting Expansion Revealed

Sep-02-2023 PST

Old School RuneScape, the beloved MMORPG, made waves at its recent Summer Summit with exciting announcements that have players eagerly anticipating the future of the game. The event brought back two fan-favorite limited events, introduced a lock-in poll for the game's first new skill, Sailing, and unveiled a brand new and content-rich area called Varlamore.

The highlight of the Summer Summit was the announcement of the lock-in poll for the highly anticipated Sailing skill. After going through the refinement stage of development, Sailing is now ready for player feedback. If the vote passes, the skill will enter full development and progress towards its beta phase. The Sailing skill update promises to be monumental, featuring the largest area expansion in RuneScape history. Players will be able to explore the open ocean, fulfill their seafaring fantasies, and customize their ships with a range of facilities to train the Sailing skill. As they progress, players will have the opportunity to captain progressively larger ships. The lock-in poll for Sailing is currently open for voting, allowing the community to have a say in the development process.

Another exciting event making a comeback is Deadman Apocalypse, a highly competitive variant of Old School RuneScape. In this mode, players start from scratch and embark on a quest to hunt down other players, monsters, and valuable loot while competing for exclusive rewards. The game introduces breaches, where powerful bosses can spawn, offering a high-risk, high-reward scenario. These breaches are expected to become hotspots for intense PvP activity. Deadman Apocalypse will begin on August 25th and run until September 16th, featuring a substantial $25,000 prize pool.

Leagues 4: Trailblazer Reloaded, a popular event that tests players' skills and knowledge, will also make its return to Old School RuneScape. Leagues is a time-limited challenge where players start with no items or XP and venture across Gielinor with boosted XP and drop rates, along with a custom task list and powerful relics to unlock. The upcoming Leagues 4: Trailblazer Reloaded will feature new tasks, relics, areas, and all the updates that have been introduced to the game since the previous Trailblazer event in 2021. Players can look forward to exploring new areas such as Tempoross, Tombs of Amascut, and Desert Treasure II in the Desert Area. Leagues 4: Trailblazer Reloaded is set to launch later this year, providing an exciting and creative challenge for the community.

Old School RuneScape's next significant expansion, Varlamore, was also announced during the Summer Summit. This isolated kingdom offers a wealth of new content, including new bosses, skilling activities, the introduction of the Hunting Guild, and new quests. Varlamore's vastness and depth are so extensive that the content will be released across multiple game updates. The first update is scheduled to arrive early in 2024 and will introduce two new quests, marking the beginning of an all-new storyline.

With the return of fan-favorite events, the introduction of the Sailing skill, and the announcement of the content-rich Varlamore expansion, Old School RuneScape is undoubtedly keeping its players engaged and excited. The game continues to evolve and provide new experiences, ensuring that both new and veteran players have something to look forward to. As the community eagerly awaits the implementation of these updates, it's clear that Old School RuneScape remains a vibrant and thriving game that shows no signs of slowing down.
