Aug-19-2023 PST

Steel dragons are dragons in OSRS that you can find on various spots around the game map. When you kill a steel dragon on the game map, you'll get steel bars as a reward. They are quite popular among the gaming community thanks to their valuable rewards, such as the draconic visage. These dragons are quite hard to kill especially adult steel dragons, because they can spit fire to kill you. To kill these dragons easily, here is the guide that includes the best setups and locations where you can find these dragons. Complete Sandy clue scroll OSRS for exclusive rewards.

Best Gear Setup

Against the steel dragon, both the dragon hunter lance and the dragon hunter crossbow work pretty well, so all the setups should include both or one of these weapons. In case you don't have any of the above-mentioned weapons, you can go with any mage setup you want to kill the steel dragon.

Ranged Setup

With the dragon hunter bow, you can easily kill steel dragons with a ranged setup. The damage is zero to none because you'll be fighting away from the dragons. The stats of this setup are pretty good. If you wear chest, legs, and headgear, that is the best in the slot. As killing the steel dragon is a slayer task, you should wear the slayer helmet to maximize earnings. Combine broad or diamond bolts with the crossbow to deal more damage.

Mage Setup

Steel dragons are low-tier, which means you can deal damage to them without worrying about them getting close to you. A mage setup that includes protection from the dragon fire as well as prayers. The setup isn't required to be that detailed. For alchemy, you can bring both nature runes and fire. Weapon-wise, the trident of the seas can get the job done for you.

Melee Setup

A melee setup will be insufficient to deal with the steel dragon if it doesn't include the hunter lance. This setup will take you closer to the dragon to deal damage to it, so you have to work well on defense to keep you safe from damage. Like previous setups, wear the best-in-slot gear that you have for this setup. Other than the dragon hunter Lance, the fangs of Osmumten are the only weapon that will work in defeating the steel dragon effortlessly. You can use the dragon fire shield for protection against damage. Prayer and antifire potions are required with this setup. The most important prayer that you need is the protection from melee attack prayer that will keep your health high.

How to find Steel Dragons?

You can fight with steel dragons in the Brimahven dungeon region. Here, these dragons are available next to the southern entrance. This entrance is near Tai Bwo Wannai village. In this village, there is an entrance that is locked until you pay a fee of five thousand trading sticks to unlock it. Once this entrance is unlocked, you have to enter and go to the west towards the black demon room. In the metal dragon room, you can find various items along with the steel dragons.

You can also complete the slayer task in this area thanks to the task room, where more metal dragons are available. All the steel dragons in this area are of level two hundred and forty-six. The dungeon contains four dragons, while nine more steel dragons are available in the slayer task room, making a total of thirteen dragons. Kill these dragons for visages and steel bars. The second location of steel dragons is the catacombs of Kourend. The steel dragons that are available here are way more powerful compared to the previous location, which means high rarity rewards, but you'll have a hard time defeating them.

To find these dragons, you have to go to the western edge of the dungeon. The main entrance of this dungeon is near the dark altar. Enter the dungeon from this entrance and run through the skeletons. Continue running north while crossing the hellhounds. You'll finally reach a room that will be full of many black, blue, and red dragons. You can take the agility shortcut from this room. This shortcut is available on the west side of the entrance, but you need a minimum twenty-eight agility level to use this shortcut.

If your agility level is less than this value, you can use the other entrance to the catacombs. This entrance is located in a hole in lovakengj. In the catacombs area, all the steel dragons are powerful, so equip a slayer helmet before going there, or your chances of success are pretty thin. If you meet those minimum skill requirements for this dragon, you still have to work on your strategy to easily kill them for rewards - OSRS Gold and Items.
