Welcome to the Old School Runescape guide on completing your varrock diary, in this section I will focus on just the easy and medium levels to it. The diary contains tasks centred around the city of Varrock and its surrounding areas, including Edgeville and the Barbarian Village. To receive your rewards on completion of each level you should visit and speak to Toby, he can be found south east of Varrock square, next to the general store.

Easy

Browse Thessalias store: no quest or skill requirements. simply visit her store, talk to her, and once the interface appears with the items she is selling/ buying you have completed the task.

Have Aubury teleport you to the essence mine: you must have completed the rune mysteries quest, but there are no skill requirements. Right click on Aubury and select the teleport option. Aubury can be found just south of the eastern varrock bank.

Mine some iron ore in the Varrock mine: no quest requirements but you will need 15 mining. The iron ore can be found in the south east patch of the Varrock mine.

Make a normal plank using the sawmill: no quest or skill requirements. For this you will need 100 coins to use the mill and 1 log. The sawmill operator can be found in the southern part of the Varrock lumberyard. The lumberyard can be found just north east of Varrock.

Enter the second level of the stronghold of security: no quest or skill requirements although decent combat/ defence may be helpful, otherwise bring some food. Simply navigate to the second level of the stronghold of security (located below Barbarian Village), passing through the gates by answering various account security questions.

Jump over the fence south of Varrock: no quest requirements, 13 agility requirement. Jump over the agility shortcut near the path from Lumbridge to Varrock.

Chop down a dying tree in the lumber yard: no quest or skill requirements. Any axe will do, can be done from level 1 woodcutting.

Buy a newspaper: no quest or skill requirements. Bring 50 coins with you to purchase a newspaper from Benny in Varrock square.

Give a dog a bone: no quest or skill requirements. Obtain a bone, either by killing an enemy or by purchasing one at the grand exchange, then find one of the stray dogs in or near Varrock and use the bone on it to complete this task.

Spin a bowl on the pottery wheel and then fire it in the Barbarian Village oven. No quest requirements but you will need 8 crafting. The wheel can be found south east of the eastern Varrock bank.

Speak to Haig Halen after obtaining at least 50 kudos: no quest or skill requirements. He can be found in Varrock museum, you can obtain kudos by correctly annotating the museum exhibitions, found in the lower part of the museum.

Craft some earth runes: no quest requirements but you will need 9 runecrafting. Bring either an earth talisman or tiara, and either a rune or pure essence and craft one earth rune at the earth altar, located south of the lumberyard. Alternatively you can craft one at the abyss.

Catch some trout in the river Lum, next to Barbarian Village: no quest requirements, 20 fishing. You will need to use feathers with a fly fishing rod to catch some trout here.

Steal from the tea stall in Varrock: no quest requirements, 5 thieving. The tea stall can be found in the south east of Varrock by the wall.

On completion of the easy diary you will receive: Varrock armour 1 and 1 antique lamp worth 2500 exp. In addition Zaff will now sell you 15 battlestaves a day at 7k each.

Medium

Have the Apothecary in Varrock make you a Strength potion: no quest or skill requirements. Bring the following items to the apothecary in south west Varrock and he will make you a strength potion: Limpwurt root, red spiders' eggs, and 5 coins.

Enter the Champions' Guild: no specific quest requirements but you will need 32 quest points or more to enter, no skill requirements.

Select a colour for your kitten: partial completion of the garden of tranquillity as well as full completion of Gertrude's Cat is required, with no skill requirements. You will need a ring of charos, as well as 100 coins, you should also not currently have a kitten or cat. Using the ring charos on Gertrude will allow you to colour the cat.

Use the spirit tree in the north east corner of the grand exchange: completion of the Tree Gnome Village quest, no skill requirements. Simply travel to any unlocked spirit tree using the spirt tree in the north east of the grand exchange.

Perform the 4 emotes from the stronghold of security: no quest or skill requirements. In order to claim the 4 emotes and be able to use them you will need to have completed the stronghold of security, completing the last 2 levels will require you use the runescape authenticator.

Enter the Tolna dungeon after completing the quest A Soul's Bane: must have completed A Soul's Bane, no skill requirements. The dungeon is located east of Varrock.

Teleport to the digsite using a digsite pendant: completion of the quest The Dig Site is required, no skill requirements. The pendant can be bought from the GE at around 2.5 gp.

Cast the teleport to Varrock spell: no quest requirements, 25 magic. The following runes are required for this spell, 3 air, 1 fire, 1 law (you can swap out the fire or air for their respective staves if you so desire).

Get a slayer task from Vannaka: no quest requirements, you need 40 or higher combat level. Vannaka can be found in Edgeville dungeon.

Make 20 mahogany planks in one go: no quest or skill requirements. Using the sawmill again, this time bring 20 mahogany logs and 30k gp.

Pick a white tree fruit: completion of the Garden of Tranquillity quest and 25 farming. After completing the quest a fruit will grow on the white tree which you can pick.

Use the balloon to travel from Varrock: completion of the Enlightened Journey quest, 40 firemaking. 10 willow logs are needed to unlock the Varrock balloon, then use 1 normal log to travel to Taverley from Varrock.

Complete a lap of the Varrock Rooftop course: no quest requirements but you will need 30 agility. The course start is south east of the square.

On completion of the medium diary you will receive: Varrock armour 2, 1 antique lamp worth 7.5k exp and the ability to change teleport location of Varrock teleport to the ge. Also Zaff will now sell you 30 battlestaves a day, for 7k each.
