Aug-12-2023 PST

Steel Dragons are one of the most powerful monsters in OSRS. They are dragons that can be found in various locations on the game map. The main rewards that you get for defeating them are steel bars, but other rewards are more notable. Killing them will complete the common slayer task. The most sought-after reward for killing steel dragons is the draconic visage. Killing steel dragons is quite a difficult task, so you need a good setup to get rid of them. This OSRS guide features the best ways to kill steel dragons.

How to find Steel Dragons in OSRS?

Finding steel dragons in OSRS is quite difficult, so here are two locations where you can find them on the map and kill them for steel bars.

Brimhaven Dungeon

The first location is the Brimhaven dungeon. In this region, you can go to the southern entrance to find these dragons. This entrance is near Tai Bwo Wannai village. To unlock this entrance, you have to pay a fee of five thousand trading sticks, but this fee is only one time. Once this entrance is unlocked, go to the west side and reach the black demon room. From here, you have to go south to reach the metal dragon room. Here, you'll find iron and steel dragons. The entrance to the slayer task is also available here. From this entrance, you can proceed to more metal dragons.

Catacombs of Kourend

In this location, steel dragons are way more powerful compared to the above-given location. Here, you have to go to the western edge of the dungeon to find these dragons. If you have an agility level of twenty-eight, you can simply take a shortcut. This shortcut requires you to go to the west side of the entrance to the brutal dragon room. The second location is to use the hole in Lovakengj.

If you don't meet the agility points requirements, you can simply run around the edge of the dungeon. You'll find the entrance to the dark altar in the middle. From there, you have to run to the east side from the moss giants. Continue south, crossing the jellies and bloodvelds. Cross ankou, banshees, and dagganoth by going west from jellies. After reaching Banshees, just go north of Shades, and you'll find a lot of steel dragons OSRS there.

Ways to Kill Steel Dragons

The dragon hunter crossbow and lance are pretty effective against steel dragons, so you aren't bound to any combat style to kill them. If you don't have both of these weapons, the second option is a mage setup.

1. Magic Setup

Iron, bronze, and steel-level metal dragons are easier to defeat because they can be attacked from a distance. If you use the right dragonfire protection and prayers, you can kill them in no time. To avoid damage, use the anti-dragon shield along with the antifire potion. Any magic gear will also help you in staying alive. Below are some more gear items that you can use against steel dragons.

· Occult Necklace

· Imbued God Cape

· Rada's Blessing 4

· Tormented Bracelet

· Eternal boots

· Imbued seer's ring

2. Melee Setup

To right steel dragons as a melee, you can use the dragon hunter lance. This setup isn't for close combat, as these dragons can deal a lot of damage to you. In terms of gear, using the Slayer helm and Bando's gear is the best. Proselyte chest and leg pieces can easily replace the Bandos. Osmumten's Fang is also good as a weapon. The dragon fire shield should be the shield. You swap gears according to your needs. Just keep plenty of prayer potions and antifire potions.

3. Ranged Setup

Ranged setup is the best if you have the dragon hunter crossbow in the inventory. You can deal damage to dragons from a distance to avoid damage from them. You can match this bow with the best-ranged legs, chest, and headgear. The slayer helm is the best helmet for all the slayer tasks. Pair the helmet with a necklace of Anguish and Ava's device to get the most out of this setup. With the crossbow, use broad bolts or diamond bolts to deal the most damage. Protect yourself using the anti-dragon shield or the dragon fire ward. In terms of potions, antifire potions will do things. To heal, keep some good in the bag along with alchemy rules.
